About
Hello, I’m Hazel. I’m passionate about seasonality and celebrating locally-grown and British flowers, full of beautiful character and scent. My work is rooted in the surrounding landscape and whatever it can offer me in any given season…
I came to floral design from a career in art galleries, where I was lucky to be surrounded by some of the finest paintings in the world every day. Now I’m lucky to work with some of the most beautiful flowers in the world – English garden flowers.
My arrangements and bouquets are naturalistic and garden-inspired, led by the flowers themselves – the unique personality of each wonderfully wonky stem. Hellebores, tulips, fritillaria, foxgloves, sweet peas, roses, dahlias – I have so many favourites I couldn’t possibly choose! Every stem is carefully selected for its colour, scent, texture and movement. Every season brings new treasures to look forward to, meaning that every design speaks of a particular moment in time. Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter or somewhere in between.
An enduring love of still-life paintings and of hand-thrown and vintage ceramics means I carefully select vessels to complement the flowers and their surroundings, so that every arrangement looks perfectly at home.
Provenance is important to me – I work with small-scale flower farmers across the East of England and beyond, with some elements grown in my own tiny cutting garden. I don’t use any floral foam.
I’m based at home in Ware, Hertfordshire, 45 minutes from both London and Cambridge.
